Strong Women, Strong Men or Simply Strong Values

Strong Women, Strong Men or Simply Strong Values

I am writing this blog on the eve of International Women’s Day (IWD17). Giving back to help give the freedom of choice to girls and women around the world is at the core of what we want to do at Taylor Yates. It’s why we started the business, well that and the search for a gorgeous soft handbag! The plan is that eventually every bag we sell with contribute to a fund so we can give back to the causes that help to give young women a choice of what they want to do with there life. I decided to google to find out more about IWD17 and found a great article written by radhika-sanghani you can find it at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/international-womens-day-everything-you-need-to-know/

Essentially, International Women’s Day is a worldwide event that celebrates women’s achievements – from the political to the social – while calling for gender equality.

It has been observed since the early 1900s and is now recognised each year on March 8. It’s not affiliated with any one group, but brings together governments, women's organisations, corporations and charities.

The original aim – to achieve full gender equality for women the world – has still not been realised. A gender pay gap persists across the globe and women are still not present in equal numbers in business or politics. Figures show that globally, women’s education, health and violence towards women is still worse than that of men.

According to the World Economic Forum, the gender gap won't close until 2186.

On IWD, women across the world come together to force the world to recognise these inequalities – while also celebrating the achievements of women who have overcome these barriers.

As a Mum to a daughter and two sons, I love them all equally as the individuals they are and this makes me concerned for them all and the world they are heading into, so we will continue to try and play our part. I will be spending the day at an inaugural women’s conference on the beautiful Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland, not far from home, as part of a panel of female entrepreneurs! Who knew J. The theme is ‘be bold for change. We love strong women with purpose, our collection is named after the strong women that gave me the freedom to choose my own path, meet them here https://tayloryates.com/pages/about-us but we love strong men with purpose too, maybe it simply comes down to shared values and respect, that’s certainly how we feel at TY HQ anyway…
